Malema Responds to Madlanga Commission

 EFF leader Julius Malema has filed a formal affidavit responding to allegations at the judicial commission of inquiry. The inquiry is investigating criminality, political interference, and corruption within the criminal justice system. Malema submitted his sworn response following a notice regarding evidence from Tshepo Nyatlo.

In his response, Malema addresses alleged communication logs between Major General Feroz Khan and businessman Mohamed Sayed. He states he has no personal knowledge of the exchanges between Khan and Sayed. He rejects any inference of unlawful conduct on his part based on those messages.

Malema also clarifies his relationship with Carnilinx executive Adriano Mazzotti. He states it is a matter of public record that Mazzotti donated funds to help register the EFF. He clarifies that his wife lived in a property within the same complex as Mazzotti under a formal lease agreement. He denies claims that his family stayed there for free.

The affidavit addresses specific allegations about institutional interference. Malema firmly denies that he conspired to orchestrate the removal of former Inspector General of Intelligence Dr Setlhomamaru Dintwe. He explains that as a member of parliament, he regularly receives information from both covert and public sources. He notes this information helps him hold public officials accountable. He mentions receiving briefings from officials like General Mkhwanazi regarding the murder investigation of the artist known as AKA.

Finally, Malema rejects accusations of procurement corruption. He explicitly denies any bribery of the EFF by the company known as Bertobrite. The affidavit was officially signed and sworn at the Westenburg police station on June 30, 2026.
