Mozambican National Sentenced to Effective 25 Years for Murder of Broadcaster DJ Warras

 Joaquim Armando Pacula, a twenty five year old Mozambican national, has been sentenced by the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Johannesburg to an effective twenty five years in prison for the murder of radio broadcaster Warrick Stock, widely known as DJ Warras.

The sentencing followed a plea and sentence agreement with the National Prosecuting Authority after consultation with the family of the victim. Pacula confessed that he shot and killed Stock on December 16, 2025, outside the Zambesi Building in the Johannesburg central business district after being promised twenty five thousand rand for the hit.

For the murder charge, Pacula received twenty five years. He was also sentenced to eight years for unlawful possession of a firearm, six months for unlawful possession of ammunition, and twelve months for contravening the Immigration Act. All sentences will run concurrently, meaning Pacula will serve an effective twenty five years imprisonment.

Meanwhile, the legal proceedings against the co accused, Victor Majola, who is alleged to have orchestrated the hit, are continuing. Pre trial proceedings for Majola have been scheduled for August 17, 2026.
