South Africans Must Work Together to Stop Abuse - Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa is asking citizens across South Africa to take a firm stand against abuse. He says the fight to stop violence against women and children must start inside every home and local neighborhood.

The President explained that government laws and police work are not enough on their own. True change will only happen when family members and neighbors stop turning a blind eye to harmful behavior. People must speak up, confront abusers, and report crimes to the police instead of protecting offenders.

Men have a central role to play in ending this harm. Men must hold each other accountable, challenge bad actions among friends, and teach young boys to respect women. Violence against women must never be accepted as part of daily life or tradition.

Safety is a basic right for every person in the country. Communities need to protect victims, support survivors, and create an environment where abusers face full justice for their actions. By taking personal responsibility at home, ordinary citizens can help create safe streets and safe homes for everyone.
